In this part of the book I look at the limitations of prioritising highly contactful, episodic pieces of work and the need to address the complexities of the ground from which such work arises. I suggest some ways of helping clients to make connections between episodes of therapeutic work. I discuss the concepts of support and of life themes, introduce the idea of identifying and unravelling interconnected life patterns of perceiving, and I discuss the need to help some individuals to develop greater cohesion, flexibility and continuity.
