This paper examines three domains of ‘Geureo－’ type conjunctive adverbs, ‘Geureomyeon’, ‘Geuraeseo’ and ‘Geureonikka’ in terms of Sweetser’s (1990) three domains of conjunctions including content connection, epistemic connection, and speech－act connection. As a result of quantitative analysis, three domains are classified into content domain: the subsequent utterance describes the real world’s event and state, epistemic domain is elicited from the speaker’s epistemic domain, and speech－act domain performs the speech －act with the utterance performance. The findings identified that ‘Geureomyeon’ and ‘Geureonikka’ are frequently used in speech－act connection. What is more, ‘Geuraeseo’ is used regularly in content connection. Most studies on ‘Geureo－’ type conjunctive adverbs have focused on the function of discourse marker. In the case of the substitute object limited to the precedent utterance, the meaning of the connecting utterance is logically clear, and plays a role in connecting the precedent utterance and the subsequent utterance. However, when the object of substitution is extended to the situational context or language context, it is no longer the logical value of the propositional dimension, as it is turned into a specific function in the discourse, and functions as a discourse mark. This explains why ‘Geureo－’ type conjunctive adverbs can be used as discourse markers. It is thought that this adverb becomes a discourse marker when the scope of substitution in ‘Geure－’ type is extended into the situational context. The meaning of the connective ending deviates the logical value of the propositional level, turning it into a particular function on the discourse.
