이 연구는 ‘평생학습’시대의 초등 단계의 문학능력과 문학교육의 평가 기능을 탐색하였다. 특히 초등의 문학교육에서 길러주어야 할 평생학습 요소로서 ‘문학의 즐거움’을 중심으로 살펴보았다. 이를 바탕으로 미래사회에 초등문학 교육에서 평가가 갖추어야 할 기능도 정리해 보았다. 미래사회의 특징과 평생학습의 의미를 탐색하였다. 인류는 ‘소유’가 아닌 ‘존재’로서의 삶을 살아가기 위해 ‘평생학습’시대를 맞이하고 있다. 특히 초등 문학 교육에서 평생학습시대에 교육해야할 문학능력인 ‘문학의 즐거움’에 대해 기존 교육과정 탐색을 바탕으로 세 가지 유형을 제시하였다. 즉, ‘문학 자체의 즐거움’, ‘문학이 삶에 대해 이야기 하고 있음을 깨닫는 즐거움’, ‘문학이 주는 독자와 공동체를 비추어보게 하는 즐거움’을 초등에서 강조하여야 할 대표적 문학능력으로 제시하였다. 또 ‘문학의 즐거움’이라는 문학능력을 기르기 위한 초등 문학교육에서의 평가가 가져야할 기능을 네 가지로 정리하였다. 즉 문학이 인간의 삶을 성찰하고 소통하는 즐거움을 준다는 점을 경험하고 깨닫도록 하는 평가, 학생 개개인의 문학적 즐거움의 특성을 확인하는 과정으로서 평가, 문학경험에 대한 자신감을 제공하는 평가, 문학과 독자의 유기적 친연성을 강조하는 평가를 제안하였다.

This study aims at finding out the functions of the elementary literary evaluations and literary competence. Especially I focused on ‘the pleasure of literature’ which should be cultivated in elementary literature education. Of course I arranged the functions of the evaluation in future elementary literature education as belows. The human-beings must live the lives not as ‘to have’ but as ‘to be’ in future periods. The lives of ‘to be’ could be achieved by the experiencing pleasure of literature. I suggested 3 types of the pleasure of literature. That were the pleasure of literature itself, the pleasure of the awakening of life by the literature and the pleasure of introspections that the literature gave to the readers and societies. Conclusionally I suggested the functions of evaluation which could cultivate the pleasure of literature as 4 types. That is the evaluations which could find out the pupils experienced the pleasure to introspect and communicate from the literature, the evaluations to identify the pleasure of the individual pupil, the evaluations which could give the pupils the confidence in literary experience and the evaluations which could emphasize the organic affinity between the literatures and readers.
