이 글은 김천 지역의 김산향교를 지역문화교육의 자료로 활용하기 위한 방안으로 스토리텔링을 제안하는 것이다. 김산향교를 스토리텔링 함으로써 역사 문화적 의미 뿐 아니라 에듀테인먼트 자료로 가치를 찾아 점점 외면 시 되어가는 지역문화자원인 김산향교와 주변을 활성화하려는 것이다. 김산향교는 조선시대 동안 중등교육을 담당하며 김천지역의 중심역할을 해왔으나 임진왜란 때 소실되었다가 다시 중건되는 과정을 거쳐 지금에 남아 있다. 또한 그 과정에서 강설 부자와 지역 유림들의 김산향교에 대한 이야기는 흥미와 여러 메시지를 담고 있어 스토리텔링 하여 문화원형으로 활용한다면 역사 문화적 가치 뿐 아니라 인문학적 가치를 지니게 되어 에듀테인먼트 자료로 충분한 의미를 지닐 것으로 보인다. 이러한 과정을 통해 김산향교의 가치가 창출되고 의미의 재발견 및 활용의 길을 열게 된다면 지역 정체성과 애향심을 고취시켜 지역민들의 삶에 의미와 즐거움을 불어넣을 수 있을 것이다. 또한 관광객의 재방문을 이끌게 되어 지역경제의 활성화에도 큰 도움이 될 것으로 보인다. 지역문화자원은 역사적 원형 그대로의 보존도 중요하나 시대와 세대의 변화에 따른 능동적 움직임도 반드시 필요한 부분이다. 이를 위해 지역문화자원의 스토리텔링 작업은 다양한 활용의 길을 여는 콘텐츠화의 시작이기 때문이다.
This paper proposes storytelling on Gimsan-HyangGyo as education materials for local culture education. We aim to vitalize Gimsan-HyangGyo and its neighboring area as regional culture resources, which have been put aside, for the historical and cultural implications as well as the value for edutainment materials through storytelling on Gimsan-HyangGyo. Gimsan-HyangGyo had been a central role in Gimcheon region by being responsible for secondary education during Chosun Dynasty, but it was burned down during the Imjin war (1592-1598) and rebuilt later. Particularly, the stories about father and son of Kang-Sul and the local Confucians in the course are interesting and carry several messages, so it will be sufficient for edutainment materials having the historical and cultural significance and the liberal value if we utilize them as a cultural archetype by storytelling. Through the process, if the value of Gimsan-HyangGyo were created and the doors to utilize it were opened, it will give meaning and pleasure to lives of local residents by inspiring regional identity and patriotism. In addition, it will lead to revisit of tourists to the region, which is a good help to revive the local economy. Not only preserving regional culture resources as their original form, but also making the active use of them in changes of the time and the generation is important and necessary. With this, storytelling on regional culture resources will be the start of developing contents for opening up the various ways of utilizing them.
