In education, it is very important to bring up not only cognitive and logical thinking but also emotion and imagination for harmonious human. However, because of the positivism which has been grounded in educational field, it has been failed to have harmonious perspectives of learning and learners. Therefore, this study investigated the meanings and the values of narrative modes of thought and examined their implications for education. First, based on the literature review of storytelling in education and art education, I discussed the characteristics of narrative mode of thought and possibilities of narrative curriculum. And I provided the two elements of storytelling in art education. Second, I surveyed the elementary teachers' perceptions for the actual conditions of storytelling in art classroom. Based on these results, I suggested the examples of art stories as a teaching medium in art classroom.
