이 연구는 경제학의 기본 가정인 호모 에코노미쿠스가 지니는 함축과 연구 패러다임으로서의 주류 경제학의 특징을 분석한다. 그리고 행동경제학과 신경과학의 연구 결과를 바탕으로 호모 에코노미쿠스 공리의 특수성과 한계를 비판한다. 행동경제학의 연구 결과는 인간이 이기성과 함께 공평성 성향을 선천적으로 지니고 있음을 확인한다. 우리나라 학교 경제교육은 주류 경제학의 이론 체계를 무비판적으로 수용하고 합리성 또는 효율성만을 강조하는 교육을 행하고 있다. 민주시민성 함양이라는 사회과교육의 목표에 학교 경제교육이 제대로 기여하지 못하고 있다. 경제교육에서 합리성과 함께 공평성이 동시에 다루어져야 한다.
This study analyzes the implications of homo economicus as the basic assumption of economics, and the characteristics of mainstream economics as a research paradigm. And based on the research results of behavioral economics and neuroscience, the paper criticizes the specificity and limitations of the homo economicus axiom. The research results of behavioral economics and neuroscience confirm that humans have innate propensity for fairness along with selfishness. School economic education in Korea uncritically accepts the theoretical system of mainstream economics and provides school economic education that emphasizes only rationality or efficiency. School economic education has not properly contributed to the goal of social studies education to foster democratic citizenship. In school economic education, rationality and fairness must be dealt with at the same time.
