(연구배경 및 목적) 산업혁명 이후 시대적 필요에 의해 생겨났던 근대산업유산은 현시대가 요구하는 기능에 부응하지 못하고 소멸되거나 노후화된상태로 방치 되어 있다. 근대산업유산의 유휴공간은 지역의 경제적, 사회적으로 중요한 역할을 담당해 오면서 역사적, 문화적 가치가 잠재되어 다각적인 측면에서 바라볼 필요가 있다. (연구방법) 이에 본 연구에서는 도시재생을 위한 컨버전 디자인의 활용방안의 이론적 고찰과 해외 선진 컨버전 디자인 활용사례를 살펴보았다. 문헌연구를 통해 자생적 재생과 종속적 재생으로 추출하고 각 사례들을 이 둘의 활용방안을 토대로 역사적 시간성, 장소적 통시성, 공간적 지속성, 효율적 근접성 이라는 공간적 재생특성 측면에서 평가하였다. (결과) 컨버전 디자인 활용방안은 지역 정체성과, 문화적, 경제적 활성화 측면에서도 중요한 요소인 것으로 파악하였다.
이와 같이 근대산업유산의 유휴공간을 활용한 컨버전 디자인 활성화에 대한 연구는 향후 효율적인 공간으로 변모시켜 나아가 도시재생발전의 사회적 전반에 걸쳐 다양하게 활용 될 수 있는 자료가 될 것으로 예상된다.
(Background and Purpose)Modern industry emerged from the needs of the times because Industrial Revolution technology did not meet the functions demanded by the present age, and modern people were left in a superannuated state. Because the now idle factory spaces were created at times when they played important economic and social roles in local communities, their reuse should be approached from multilateral perspectives. (Method)This study investigates the theoretical considerations of conversion designs for urban reutilization and the use cases of advanced conversion designs overseas. Autonomous and dependent reuses are drawn from the research, and each study case is evaluated from the aspects of historical temporality, locational diachrony, spatial sustainability, and efficient proximity based on the two reuse methods previously mentioned. (Result)The conversion design utilization measure is found to be a critical factor in the aspects of regional identity, culture, and economic vitalization. A study on the promotion of conversion design utilizing the modern industrial inheritance is expected to supply data on transforming idle spaces into efficient spaces. Further, such a study could be used for urban regeneration and redevelopment.
