Investigation of a Novel Horizontal Induction Stirring in the Ladle Process
Ladle metallurgy and ladle stirring has proven itself to be one of the critical steps in the process of steelmaking. During the ladle process, steel plants have the possibility to adjust and improve the composition and cleanness of melt by means of stirring. Hence, the ladle process has been the focus of numerous research activities from plant trials, physical modelling and laboratory trials to computer simulation. In the past two decades, due to increase in the computer calculation capacity and development of numerical methods of computational fluid dynamics (CFD), the simulation of ladle metallurgy has played a significant role to improve the understanding of the fluid flow and heat transfer in during the process of the ladle stirring
