Evaluation of Mixing and Mass Transfer at Ternium Brazil’s BOF Through Cold Model Experiments
Facing a great challenging market with a high level of competitiveness, steel industry seeks improvements on its processes, aiming the high-quality steel production, combined with low production costs. Several parameters are involved in the primary BOF converter refining process. Improvements regarding blowing pattern (lance flow rate, Bath Level Distance • DBL), lance design (number and angle of nozzles) and bottom blowing setup (arrangement and individual tuyeres gas flow rate) are necessary for the industrial practice, these parameters have substantial influence on the steel quality, production costs, and process productivity.
