Conversion of an existing reinforced concrete building was done. In that case, several spans of flat slab structure of the building came to have to support the large increase of live load. In order to attain that purpose, a special strengthening plan using external prestressing cables was proposed, and reinforcement work was actually performed.
This paper describes the design plan and the reinforcement work for the flat slab panels.
