Pseudo zone plate for extended focal depth

Abstract

For extending the focal depth of an optical system, we propose to merge axially the foci of a radially symmetric, phase-only zone plate. We show that focal depth is extended by a factor N, if the zone plate has N rings with phase delays that follow a spread spectrum sequence.
