Abstract
The surface finishing of parts made from a lithium-niobate single crystal by abrasive machining is studied. It is found that the permissible pressure depends on the type and grain size of the abrasive and the concentration of the suspension. When using a suspension of M14 white electrocorundum, the permissible pressure is no more than 40 kPa; for M7 and M3 white electrocorundum, the pressure may be increased to 80 kPa. The recommended tool speed is no more than 150–180 rpm.
