Abstract
Drift wind flow in the amplification zone of a wind wave is investigated experimentally. It is found that the wind drift diminishes in proportion to the wave steepness on the forward slope of a wave in the region of a water surface deformed by vortices in a viscous layer of air. Vortices delaying the drift are found in the viscous layer on the back slope of a wave where the shift velocity of water diminishes.
