Abstract

The contact pressure for a thin-walled isotropic shell that rests on a nonsolid elastic or rigid foundation is determined. The shell is loaded by a system of body forces, including the transverse load, that cause an unsymmetrical contact pressure. This problem involves simulating the transfer of the load from the boiler-tank car to the groundsel supports when the car travels along a bend, i.e., considering the centrifugal force.
