The diabolo was called as ”kong-zhu” in Mainland China. This paper mainly adopted the documentary method and historical research to study the origin and development of the name of diabolo, in order to understand the role and position playing in folk traditional culture and to construct its cultural significance and meaning. Following were the researchers' findings: 1. The origin of diabolo couldn't gain the accurate criticism at present; 2. Due to the different times, regions, manipulative methods, shapes, sound, the name of Diablo owned the characteristics of diversity names; 3. Scholars often cal led that the ”kong-chong” as the old name of diabolo, in fact, its playing method was greatly different with diabolo (kong-zhu).
