Abstract: Researchers working on nCOV-2019 identified a unique protein, the Spike protein, on the surface of the coronavirus, which helped in understanding the method of transmission of the virus. Novel coronavirus uses this spike protein to infect a human cell by binding to the membrane. Detection of antibodies to SARS-COV-2 can help in diagnosis of disease, and also has implications in developing and monitoring patient therapeutics as well as in vaccine and therapy research.
