ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study was to develop the scale for general high school students' attitude toward technology. For the purpose of this study, the data was collected from 577 high school students.

The pilot survey questionnaire was contained 60 items from the TAS (Technology Attitude Scale) through the content validity by technology education expert. The questionnaire is consist of Likert - type scale to assess students' attitude toward technology.

For the first version of TAS, pilot test was carried out for 184 high school students. The data was analyzed using a factor analysis (PAF extraction method and Direct Oblimin rotation method) and 35 items were clustered by six factors.

The main survey was carried out for 393 high school students that the data were analyzed bymeans of SPSS PC+. To extract of optimal items, factor analysis was used. The results of this study were as follows :

First, the reliability of the TAS was calculated by Cronbach' s Alpha .91.

Second, the value of factor loading was showed more than 0.4.

Third, the TAS was selected by 33 items.

Finally, the factors of TAS were clustered by five components; general interest in technology, consequences of technology, technology as an activity for both boys and girls, activity practicing of technology, and creativity of technology.
