PSYCHOLOGICAL MISTREATMENT IN DATING RELATIONSHIPS AND PERCEPTION OF GRAVITY IN SPANISH UNIVERSITY STUDENTS
Abstract
The aim of this study is to verify the prevalence of the subtle and manifest psychological abuse on girl students, as well as its relationship with the perception levels of this problem. 290 students were analyzed (X=20.74, DT=2.92) who were selected using a probabilistic type sampling by clusters. According to the results obtained, there are differences between being victimized (97.24%) and perceive "technical abuse" (where the abuse exists but there is no awareness of the problem) (42.41%), checking that the subtle abuse rate is higher than the manifest. The relationship between present or not present psychological abuse and the ability to perceive this behavior as serious misconduct has been confirmed; women who haven't suffered psychological violence value it as more serious. Furthermore, we check that the subtle abuse rate is higher than the manifest one. Likewise, the relationship between the area of knowledge and the levels of perception of psychological abuse has been verified, being the lowest level for the branch of Exact Sciences with respect to others of a more assistance nature. The consequences of the results are presented.
