Structured report for preoperative evaluation of an adrenal lesion

Nowadays, the laparoscopic adrenalectomy is considered as the “gold standard” for surgical treatment of small non-invasive adrenal lesions. Our aim is to design a CT structured report including all the anatomical data the Radiologist can provide to the Surgeon, such as position, anatomic relations and vascularization of an adrenal lesion in order to allow a better preoperative evaluation. More specifically, we identified essential data the Radiologist must include in his report: size of the lesion (measured along the three axes), position of the adrenal gland and/or the lesion in relation to the superior renal pole, distance between the adrenal gland and the renal surface, presence or absence of an adipose cleavage plane (between the lesion and the kidney and/or the other adjacent structures), origin, anatomic relations and possible anatomic variants of adrenal venous and arterial vessels, presence of collateral vessels supplying the lesion.
