The purpose of this thesis is to discuss Sahyangga, a Korean Roman Catholic epic(in Korean, Cheonjugasa) from the viewpoint of text linguistics. For this purpose, I investigated the differences of some variants of Sahyangga, and analysed the macro structures of them. Furthermore, I discussed the intention of the author of Sahyangga and the intertextuality between that epic and other Roman Catholic writings in Korea. So that I found out that Sahyangga has a well－formed rhetorical structurte similar to sonata form, which granted Sahyangga a logical as well as rhetorical power to pursuade Korean people to believe Roman Catholic. This thesis is also a pilot study about intercultural communication between Confucian and Roman Catholic culture of 19th Century Korea.
