Business as Mission(BAM)은 개도국의 가난한 공동체들을 돕기 위해 선진국의 많은 교회들에 의해 사용되어온 개념이다. 최근, 많은 나라의 교회들은 비즈니스 선교에 관여하면서 비즈니스 집단과 교회가 사회에 대한 가시적인 지원 활동을 하고 있다.
목회자나 선교사 그리고 기업인들로 구성된 비즈니스 선교사는 가난한 미전도 종족에 대한 접근통로로 BAM을 활용하고 있다. 이러한 집단 내지 공동체에 경제적으로 영적으로 성장의 기회를 제공하려고 지속적으로 노력하고 있다.
이에 본 연구는 최근에 BAM 개념의 급격한 변화에 비해 지금까지 간과해 온 BAM의 지속가능경영의 성과에 영향을 끼치고 있는 결정요인들을 QBL 모형(경제적, 사회적, 환경적 및 영적 요인)을 활용하여 분석하였다. 분석 연구는 현재 BAM 활동을 하고 있는 한국의 교회와 선교단체들을 대상으로 자료를 수집하고 조사, 분석하여 탐색적인 연구를 수행하였다.
연구결과, 현재 BAM의 지속가능 수준은 초기단계에 진입하고 있어 비즈니스 선교사들이 우선순위를 고려한 실천적인 행동에 대한 정확한 이해가 우선적인 과제라 사료되며, 연구결과는 앞으로 BAM의 지속 가능한 발전을 위해 필요한 정보와 정책개발을 위한 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.
앞으로의 연구는 더 정교한 BAM의 지속가능 성과 연구에 요구되는 외부변수와 조절변수들을 고려한 연구를 진행할 필요가 있을 것으로 사료된다.

Business as Mission(BAM) was used by different churches from developed countries to extend their help to the poor community from a developing country. Today churches from different countries are involved in the mission combined with business this activities of the church and business group that demonstrate visible support to the society. Pastors, missionaries, and business man uses BAM as their platform to reach out to the less evangelize and poor community. This practitioners classified themselves as BAMers or BAM practitioners they provide opportunity of growth in spirituality and economically. The rapid transition and changes on BAM’s concepts emerge however, prior research mainly focused with the paradigm, impact, effectiveness of BAM. The objective of this study is to attempt to probe BAM’s sustainability performance. Especially, this study will probe the determinants of BAM’s sustainability performance using the Quadruple Bottom Line Model (Economic, Environmental, Social, and Spiritual) factors. A study was conducted to target communities, and churches in South Korea that use BAM as their platform to extend their hand to those who are in need of economic and spiritual development. Earlier studies focuses mainly about BAM process and performance, this study contributes to the literature by providing proof and information that lead to success of BAM sustainable development. In conclusion, the current BAM sustainability stage are still at an early stage, it is necessary to probe what are the practical actions that BAM practitioners needs to priorities. Further studies will be needed to perform considering more external variables and moderator in order to provide a more complex BAM sustainability performance research.
