In literature, several data have been recorded concerning the width of the vertebral canal and the intra- and intervertebral ratio of the cervical vertebrae. As there is no specified information for warmblooded horses, the intra- and intervertebral ratio were assessed in laterolateral standard radiographs by examining 60 well rideable, clinically inconspicuous horses with already known methods. First reference values for these horses could be generated. In addition to that, the width of the interarticular crevice as well as the length and area of the processus articulares between C5 and C7 could be measured on tangential radiographs.
