Mathematical Modeling of Link Adaptation Schemes Used in Mobile Communication Systems

    Abstract

    Two link adaptation schemes used in mobile communication systems are modeled mathematically. One is a fast transmission power control (FTPC) scheme, and the other is a fast transmission rate control (FTRC) scheme. The former is based on both fixed transmission rate (FTR) and fixed modulation and coding (FMC). The latter is based on adaptive modulation and coding (AMC), and it is based on either fixed transmission power (FTP) or variable transmission power (VTP).
