본 연구는 사춘기 자녀를 둔 중년여성의 정체감과 부모효능감 향상을 목적으로 집단상담 프로그램을 개발하고 그 효과를 검증하고자 시행되었다. 이를 위해 부모상담 및 집단상담을 전공한 교수 3인과 현장전문가 2인이 기획, 구성, 실행, 평가의 절차(김창대 외, 2010)에 따라 집단상담 프로그램을 개발하였다. 문헌연구를 통해 중년기 정체감, 부모효능감, 인생전환기 통과의식의 이론적 배경을 중심으로 집단상담을 기획하고 구성하였다. 개발된 집단상담 프로그램의 효과를 검증하기 위해 사춘기 자녀를 둔 중년여성 16명을 대상으로 실험집단과 통제집단을 구성하였고, 실험집단에게는 2일간 총 15시간의 프로그램을 실행하였다. 실험집단과 통제집단의 중년기 위기, 자아정체감, 부모효능감을 분석한 결과, 개발된 집단상담 프로그램이 사춘기 자녀를 둔 중년여성들의 중년기 정체감을 높이고, 부모효능감을 상승시키는 데에 효과적임을 알 수 있었다. 중년여성들은 중년기라는 인생의 전환기와 더불어 자녀의 사춘기를 동시에 맞는 위기감을 경험하므로, 자신의 인생전환기에 대한 이해와 더불어 현재 당면한 발달과제를 수용하도록 돕는 집단상담적 개입이 적절할 것이다. 본 연구의 시사점과 제한점에 대해 논하였다.

The purpose of this study was to develop group counseling program for middle-aged women’s self-identity and parenting efficacy, and to verify the effectiveness the program. According to the procedure of development of program, three counseling professionals and two education professionals planned the structure of program and organized activities for the purpose of the program. In order to verify the effectiveness of the program, sixteen women who had puberty child were allocated into experimental and controlled groups, followed by the effectiveness analysis based on the survey outcomes conducted before and after the counseling program. The results of this study were as follows. First, the self-identity of the experimental group who participated in the group counseling program showed a significant improvement compared to the controlled group. Second, the parenting efficacy of the experimental group showed a notable improvement compared to the controlled group. Based on the findings of this study, the implications for the parent education and counseling were discussed.
