Abstract: The purpose of the survey was to assess the earthquake awareness and preparedness in Auckland, as part of a wider survey including Oamaru and Dunedin, and Hamilton. The survey invited residents to participate in a study seeking to develop a clearer understanding of earthquake awareness and preparedness. A total of 1500 surveys were delivered to Auckland residents on 8th November 2016. Preparedness for earthquakes and other hazards is critical in the recovery of affected communities in the aftermath of such events as the Christchurch Earthquake in 2011. This study wishes to develop a clearer understanding of the factors involved in hazard preparedness for individuals and communities. The study will be exploring the actions people and communities may have undertaken, or intend to undertake to prepare for earthquakes. This report provides the tabulated data results from a community survey completed in Auckland. (auth)
