Power, W.L. 2017 A tool for Rapid Tsunami Threat (RTTM) generation. Lower Hutt, N.Z.: GNS Science. GNS Science report 2017/37. 30 p.; doi: 10.21420/G2463J

Abstract: The primary mitigation of the risk posed from local source tsunamis is the ‘Long or Strong then get gone’ self-evacuation message. MCDEM have requested a quick way to identify the coastal regions where this message can be re-enforced through warning messages. The tool developed here aims to fulfil this need. It uses empirical equations, parameterised using data from historical tsunamis in Japan, to quickly estimate the New Zealand coastal regions at threat of land-inundation. (auth)
