Academician Theophil Gavrilovich Yanovskiy (1860–1928) and the problems of dietetics and gastroenterology in his work

The article features the life, clinical and research work of the classic of Russian clinical medicine academician F.G.Yanovsky, who, along with V.P.Obraztsov, was the leading professor of St.Vladimir Kiev University and one of the founders of Russian dietetics and gastroenterology. The sphere of his scientific interests included the problems of lung tuberculosis, diseases of the kidneys, pathologies of the digestive organs. His works show that he can rightfully be called a bacteriology and infectious disease specialist, phthisiatrist, nephrologist, gastroenterologist, pathologist and balneologist. F.G.Yanovskiy, as well as his contemporary M.I.Pevzner, can be regarded as a founding father of Russian diet science as an autonomous scientific direction in the internal diseases.
