연구의 목적은 거주 지역의 공공 문화시설 및 여가시설 이용 편리성, 어머니 양육 스트레스, 유아 미디어 이용시간의 구조적 관계를 살펴보고, 거주 지역 규모에 따른 차이가 있는지 살펴보는 것이다. 미디어 이용시간은 교육목적과 놀이목적을 구분하여 살펴보았다. 이를 위하여 한국아동패널 7차 년도 자료를 이용하여 구조방정식 모형의 적합도를 살펴보고, 다집단 분석을 실시하였다. 분석 결과 첫째, 공공 여가시설 이용 편리성과 어머니 양육 스트레스 간 상관관계는 통계적으로 유의했으나, 유아 교육 미디어 이용시간 및 놀이 미디어 이용시간 간 상관관계는 통계적으로 유의하지 않았다. 둘째, 공공 문화시설 이용 편리성이 좋을수록, 어머니 양육 스트레스가 감소했고, 유아 놀이 미디어 이용시간이 감소했다. 그러나 공공 문화시설 이용 편리성이 유아 교육 미디어 이용시간에 미치는 영향은 통계적으로 유의하지 않았다. 셋째, 다집단 분석 결과, 공공 문화시설 이용 편리성, 어머니 양육 스트레스, 유아 미디어 이용시간의 관계는 거주지역 규모에 따라 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 이 연구의 모형이 대도시와 읍면지역 모두에 적용될 수 있음을 의미한다.

The purpose of this study is both to examine the structural relations among convenience of public cultural facilities(CP) and use leisure facilities(CL), maternal parenting stress, and time for children’s electronic media use and to look into differences according to size of residential area. Time for electronic media use was examined after being classified into two categories; educational and play media use. To do this, the seven-wave data from Panel Study on Korean Children of the Korean Institute of Child Care and Education was used to investigate the suitability of structural models and multiple group analysis was used. The main findings are as following: First, there was a significant correlation between CL and maternal parenting stress, but the correlations between CL and educational/play media use were not significant. Second, the more convenient using public cultural facilities, the less maternal parenting stress and time for children’s play media use were. However, the effect of public facility convenience was not statistically significant on the time for children’s educational media. Third, the structural relations among convenience of public cultural and leisure facilities, maternal parenting stress, and time for children’s electronic media use did not differ based on the size of residential area. These results show that this study model can be applied regardless of size of residential area.
