Short Communication Harvesting fig seeds from bird feces by an Oriental myrmicine ant species, Acanthomyrmex ferox Emery, 1893 (Hymenoptera: Formicidae)

Abstract:
Seed harvesting behavior of the Oriental myrmicine ant, Acanthomyrmex ferox was observed in Ulu Gombak, Peninsular Malaysia. Minor workers harvested fig seeds exclusively from bird feces dropped on the lower vegetation.
