Abstract: Plate-fin heat exchanger is a class of exchanger that achieve high heat transfer surface through application of plate-fins,and is widely used in process industry because of its compact size and high heat exchange rate. Efficiency of plate-fin heat exchangers is normally critical for its processing plant,and can affect maintenance cost of fluid machinery. Design of plate-fin heat exchangers can be broken into several stages,among which arrangement of its channels is carried out manually,causing long design cycles and low accuracy. n this paper,an algorithm based on decision tree is proposed. On the basis of completing the objective function modeling,the optimal strategy of channel allocation can be found by constructing all possible deconstructions into a tree and using depth first( DFS) search. At the same time,the algorithm can complete the workload of designers in less than 10 minutes,which usually takes 2 ~ 3 hours.
