텍스트언어학은 1960년대 이후 등장해서 상당히 많은 연구가 이루어졌지만 여전히 다양한 이론과 접근이 시도되고 있는 언어학 연구 분야이다. 간단히 설명하면 텍스트언어학은 텍스트(본문) 차원에서 언어의 활용과 규칙성을 연구하는 학문이다. 이전의 언어연구는 단어와 문장 단위에 집중했던 반면에 텍스트언어학은 텍스트 단위의 언어연구에 집중한다. 텍스트언어학이 등장하기 전까지 언어학은 주로 문장의 결속구조와 의미구조를 연 구했다. 하지만 텍스트언어학의 등장으로 언어학의 연구범위가 문장 이상의 텍스트로 확장된다. 특히 텍스트언어학은 의사소통을 위한 텍스트의 생성과 사용 및 수용에 작용하는 기준(또는 법칙)과 요인들을 규명하려는 시도에 집중해 왔다. 이와 더불어 텍스트를 유형화하는 기준을 파악하는 것 역시 텍스트언어학의 주요 관심이다. 일반 언어학계의 관심은 텍스트성, 텍스트유형, 텍스트의 규칙성과 정형성을 규정하려고 한다. 반면에 성경신학에서 텍스트언어학적 접근은 텍스트언어학 연구의 결과물을 성경본문 해석에 적용하고 그 유용성을 언급하려고 한다. 물론 구약성경이나 신약성경에 등장하는 텍스트의 유형 및 개별유형의 규칙성과 정형성을 발견하는 것도 의미가 있다. 본 소고에서는 텍스트언어학의 기본개념과 연구 결과물에 따른 석의적 적용을 시도하고 그 유용성을 언급하려고 한다. 이를 위해 (1) 텍스트언어학에서 중요하게 다루는 본문성(Textuality)의 주요요소인 결속성에 대해 언급하고, (2) 결속성 분석 방법에 따라 시편 23편의 결속성을 살피고, (3) 텍스트언어학의 관점에서 시편 23편을 주해할 것이다. 달리 말하면 구문론(syntactics), 의미론(semantics), 화용론(prgamatics)의 차원에서 시편 23편을 분석하여 적용의 예를 제시하고 텍스트언어학의 유용성을 서술할 것이다.

Since textlinguistics was introduced in 1960’s, a significant amount of researches have been done, yet various theories and approaches are still suggested. Before the emergence of textlinguistics, linguistics has focused on lexeme and the syntactic and semantic connectivity of sentences. Yet with textlinguistics the area of linguistic investigation has extended to the area beyond the sentence, that is, the text. Especially textlinguistics has attempted to define the regularities, rules, and elements working in the production and reception of the text for communication. It also has identified the standards for the classification and function of texts. While secular textlinguists have been concerned with the research on textuality, text types and function, and the regularity of the text, biblical textlinguists apply the results and contributions of textlinguistics to biblical exegesis and present its usefulness. In the present article, we present an example of the exegesis on Psalm 23 according to the textlinguistic concepts and approaches, and then comment on the usefulness of textlinguistics. In so doing, we will briefly explain the concept of connectivity which is the main element of textuality, examine the connectivity of Psalm 23 on the surface level as well as the deep level according to analytical methods, and exegete Psalm 23 from the textlinguistic perspective. In other words, Psalm 23 will be exegeted in the realms of syntactics, semantics, and pragmatics in order to provide an example. Textlinguistics is useful for biblical exegesis in providing a systematic and holistic analysis, appreciating pragmatic elements, focusing on authorial meaning, and appreciating pragmatic elements and the author’s characteristics.
