시편 33편은 다른 성경 본문들로부터 다양한 단어, 문구, 모티브 등을 함께 모아 편집한 일종의 시선집 (anthological) 형태로 알려져 있는데, 이러한 형태는 흔히 꿰맞춘 무작위 모음집으로 여겨져 왔다. 그런데 정말 시편 33편은 독창성이 결여된 단순 모음집일까? 그동안 시편 33편에 관한 다양한 의견들이 제시되어 왔다. 하지만 아직까지 학자들 사이에서 의견의 일치를 이루어내지 못하고 있는데, 본고에서는 시편 33편과 이사야, 특별히 이사야 40장부터 55장의 상호 텍스트 연결망(the network of intertextual associations)의 렌즈를 통해 시편 33편이 특정한 목적을 가지고 다른 본문들의 주제와 모티브들을 인용하여 새롭게 만들어진 찬양시라는 것을 증명하고자 시도하였다. 이를 위해 본고는 먼저 시편 33편의 기존의 연구들을 살펴본 후, 히브리시 분석 방법론 (특히, 구문론적, 의미론적 분석)을 통해 시편 33편의 주요 주제와 모티브들을 파악하였다. 그리고 이를 토대로 시편 33편과 이사야의 상호본문의 연관성들을 연구함으로써 시편 33편이 이사야의 주요 주제들과 모티브들을 (예를 들어, 하나님의 말씀, 하나님의 모략, 하나님의 구원의 능력, 소망의 기다림 등등) 사용함으로써 창조 주제를 발전시켜 하나님이 온 세상을 창조하신 창조주일 뿐 아니라 모든 피조물들을 계속해서 보존하고 다스리시는 주관자이심을 드러내고 있음을 살펴보았다. 다시 말해, 시편 33편의 창조 주제는 처음 창조 (creatio prima)에만 국한되는 것이 아니라 피조물들을 다스리시고 보존하시는 하나님의 계속되는 창조 (creatio continua)의 개념까지 확장되어 최종 목표인 새 창조 (creatio nova)까지 이어지고 있는 것이다. 결론적으로 본 연구는 시편 33편이 창조 주제와 이사야의 여러 주제들과 모티브들을 연결시킴으로써 포로기 혹은 포로기 이후의 하나님의 백성들을 위로할 뿐만 아니라, 창조주이시자 온 세상 만물의 주관자 되시는 여호와 하나님을 신뢰하고 소망가운데 기다릴 것을 촉구하고 있음을 설명하고자 하였다.

Psalm 33 is generally known for its anthological style, as it seems to have borrowed words, phrases, and motifs from other biblical texts and combined them in the psalm. Its so-called anthological style has been commonly considered as a random patchwork that was cobbled together. Is Ps 33 simply a random mixture without a lack of originality? Among scholarship, several views on Ps 33 have been suggested, yet a consensus has not been reached. The aim of this paper is to elucidate that Ps 33 is a purposefully constructed hymn that draws upon themes and motifs from other biblical texts. This paper thus attempts to investigate Ps 33, especially in reference to the creation theme, by reading it through the lens of its network of intertextual associations between Ps 33 and Isaiah, in particular Isa 40-55. This paper first deals with the past studies of Ps 33 and then examines the major themes and motifs in Ps 33 through Hebrew poetic analysis, in particular the syntactic and semantic analysis. Based on this poetic analysis, this study explores the network of intertextual connections between Ps 33 and Isaiah in order to acquire a synoptic vision that aids in understanding the creation theme in Ps 33. It would seem that Ps 33 elaborates the creation theme in conjunction with several thematic components in the book of Isaiah (e.g., God’s word, God’s counsel, God’s saving power, the hopeful waiting, and etc.), thereby conveying that God is not only a creator who created the universe, but also a sovereign king who continues to preserve and rule over all creation. In other words, creation in Ps 33 is not restricted to the original creation (creatio prima), but rather is extended to the concept of God’s ongoing activities to rule and preserve creation (creatio continua or gubernatio mundi), thereby bringing it toward new creation (creatio nova) as his ultimate goal. In a summary, this study has demonstrated that by echoing several motifs and themes in Isaiah, in particular Isa 40-55, Ps 33 develops the creation theme in order to comfort God’s people, who were in an exilic or post-ex-ilic community, and encourage them to trust in and wait in hope for the Lord as not only creator, but also sovereign king over all creation.
