本稿では『官許 仏和辞典』(①辞典)と後続する『佛和辭典』(フランス語名: 『NOUVEAU DICTIONNAIRE FRANCAIS-JAPONAIS』(②辞典)との関連について考察した。まとめると、以下の通りである。 両辞典は書名のみを見ると、相互関連がないように見えており、②辞典では①辞典との関連について全然触れていない。だが、本稿の考察により、②辞典は①辞典の増補改訂版であることが明らかになった。 両辞典の訳語を比べてみて、全原語の12.6％に当たる293の原語で訳語の変化が見られる。つまり、②辞典で訳語が変更、増加、減少などの変化があったことが分かった。 訳語数の減少した場合を調べてみると、同一の原語に対応された訳語が、②辞典では全然違う訳語に変更されたケースが相当ある。訳語数に変化のないものの中には、①辞典の訳語にない括弧が②辞典で付加されたケースが9例ある。これは、訳語を使用するにあたり、混線を防ぐための配慮であろう。1語のみの訳語が変更されたケースに、[蜜蜂: 蜂蜜], [知告: 告知]がある。これは2字漢語の字順が転倒されたもので、明治時代漢語訳語が成立する過程でよく現れる現象である。 本稿では訳語数が減少または無変化の場合を中心に調べてみたが、今後は訳語数が増加したケースを中心に考察したいと思う。

In this study, we consider the relationship between Kankyo-futsuwajiten and the later NOUVEAU DICTIONNAIRE FRANCAIS-JAPONAIS. The titles of the books alone do not suggest a relationship between the two dictionaries, and the second dictionary does not mention a relationship with the first dictionary at all. However, this paper has established that the second dictionary is an expanded and revised version of the first. Comparing the translated words in both dictionaries, changes were found in 293 original words, accounting for 12.6% of the original words. The changes in the translated words in the dictionary included revisions, increases, and decreases.
