本研究は『諸艶大鑑』の情報提供による事実性と怪談の虚構性が何を描こうとしたのかを理解し、作品の主題を追求するところに目的がある。研究の結果、まず、『諸艶大鑑』には遊女の情報、遊郭と風俗の情報が示されていたことが確認できた。遊女に関する情報から遊女の美貌、経済的困窮、愛に懸ける変貌した姿が浮かび上がった。また、遊郭に関する情報からは、遊郭での遊びに関する実質的情報を得ることが出来たが、風俗に関する情報は関連遊女を登場させるための装置として理解できるに留まった。一方、『諸艶大鑑』には怪談も描かれていたが、これらからは遊女の怨念、執着など内面の感情を読み取ることができ、さらには秘密、感謝の気持ちなど、単純な現実の観察からは読み取ることができない側面が描かれ得ることが確認できた。したがって、『諸艶大鑑』には遊女と遊郭の現実的な姿、状況など可視的側面は情報によって描かれ、人物の内面的感情や秘密などは怪談によって効果的に描かれていたと言えるのである。

This study focused on the infromation and the ghost stories described in the Shouenohkagami to understand the subject. In result, there were lots of information on prostitues, Yukaku-the place where prostitues did there works in Edo era, and the costoms. First of all, the information on prostitues showed the aspects of prostitues, the economical difficulties of them, and the changed attitude for love of them. Secondly, the information on Yukaku showed the skills required in Yukaku and the information on the costoms were for the prostitues' appearance. In other hand, there were some ghost stories in Shouenohkagami. Those stories showed the inner feelings of characters as resentment, obsession, secrets, and the appreciation. Thus, it can be mentioned the infromation described the visible side and the ghost stories did the invisible side of prostitues in the work.
