Study on Gesture Use of English Learners under Different Task Difficulty

Meng Jiang, Yu Song

Abstract

Language is an important tool for people to communicate. In addition to language, body movements and facial
expressions can also convey certain information, which is commonly known as body language. The coordination of
words and gestures enriches the transmission of emotional information. The coordination between language and gesture
further increases the vividness of information transmission and the listener can also get richer information from it, so as
to clarify the speaker's deeper intention. From this point of view, the combination of language and gesture has certain
research value. Based on this, this paper mainly studies learners' gestures in the process of English learning and further
explores their relationship with the difficulty of tasks.
