영어 회화 수업 활성화를 위한과업 중심 교수 요목의 설계

A Design of Task-based Syllabus for Activating English Conversation Class

This study is to explore a research question, “how can we provide authentic, interactive, and performable tasks to our English learners?” On exploring this question, it identifies three principles, i.e., authenticity, interactiveness, performability for selecting authentic, interactive, and performable tasks derived from the research on Bachman and Palmer(1996) and Kim(2012). Based on these principles, it proposes a task-based syllabus which associates a language axis with a task axis. The language axis consists of language forms and functions, and the task axis of tasks, topics, and situations. Finally, it presents specific procedures and methods to implement the task-based syllabus into English conversation class, and to enhance the learner’s performability of a given task by tailoring the complexities and the difficulties of tasks to the levels of the learner’s language abilities in terms of five components of task design, i.e., the goal, the input, the condition, the procedure, and the product (Ellis, 2003).
