본고는 한문학 배경론의 일환으로 지역 한문학의 창작 공간에 대한 이해를 심화시키고 기존의 오류를 바로잡기 위해 작성된 것이다. 청도 진산과 읍치의 경관 구성과 관련하여 본고에서 검토된 내용을 정리하면 다음과 같다.
경상북도 청도와 경상남도 밀양의 경계에 위치한 華岳山은 그 자체로 밀양의 진산이 되기도 하지만, 북으로 청도 방향으로 뻗쳐 華山을 이루고, 화산은 다시 청도의 진산이자 주산인 鰲山을 형성하였다. 오산은 청도 읍성 뒷부분 자라가 엎드린 모양으로 생긴 산으로 청도의 읍치는 화산의 맥이 좌우로 흘러 내려 날아가는 봉황의 형상(飛鳳形 : 扇狀地) 내에 신선의 손바닥 형상(仙人掌形 : 동고서저, 남고북저)에 자리 잡았다.
南山은 읍치의 남쪽에 봉수가 있었기 때문에 붙여진 이름으로 원래 이름은 華山이다. 그래서 현재처럼 남산이나 남산골 등으로 불러서는 곤란하다. 군지와 고지도에 표기된 것처럼 日氣의 영험함과 祈雨祭를 지내던 곳임을 강조할 경우에는 ‘高沙洞’으로, 속세를 벗어난 仙境임을 강조하고 싶을 경우에는 ‘玉井洞’으로 부르는 것이 바람직할 것이다. 이 둘을 포괄할 경우 산의 이름을 따서 華山洞으로 하는 것도 가능하리라 본다.
청도 지역에 국한된 논의에 불과하지만 이러한 논의가 지속될 때 작품 배경에 대한 깊이 있는 이해는 물론이고 해당 공간의 문화사적 위상을 높이는 데 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
This study is to deepen the understanding on the space for writing of regional KoreanㆍChinese literature as part of a theory about background for KoreanㆍChinese literature, and also to correct the previous errors on the understanding. The results and the discussions for the Chungdo's guardian mountain and landscape making of the Provincial Eupchi are as follows. The Hwaksan (華岳山) on the border of Chungdo in Kyungsangbukdo and Milyang in Kyungsangnamdo is itself a guardian mountain of Milyang. And also, it stretched to the north, to Chungdo and forms Hwasan (華山), which again forms Osan (鰲山), the guardian and major mountain of Chungdo. Osan is a mountain whose shape is of a soft-shelled turtle's lying face down in the rear end of Chungdo's Eupsung. The provincial Eupchi of Chungdo is located in the shape of Taoist hermit's palm (east high west low, south high north low) within the shape of oriental phoenix's flying (a fan delta) which resulted in the vital point or line of Osan flowing down right and left. The south mountain took its name because there was a signal-fire in the south of Eupchi, whose original name is Hwasan (華山). Therefore, it is not right to call the south mountain as Namsan or Namsangol, and other names. As is described in the map of Gun (郡) and older times, it is desirable that it should be called Gosadong (高沙洞) when we emphasize that it has miraculous virtues of the weather and it is the place which was used to hold a ritual for rain, and that it should be called Okjungdong (玉井洞) when we emphasize that it has unworldly marvelous scenery. This study takes Chungdo areas as an object of study. It is necessary to carry out further studies on the guardian mountain and landscape making for other areas, which help us deepen the understanding on the background of the works, and also identify and heighten the status of these spaces in the cultural history.
