본 연구는 2013년 3월부터 2021년 3월까지 8년간 한국 언론의 러시아 관련 보도 경향을 분석하고자 기획되었다. 빅데이터 분석 방법인 데이터크롤링(data crawling) 기법을 활용하여 러시아관련 보도를 수집하고 토픽모델링 분석과 감성분석을 실시하였다. 분석 대상은 「동아일보」, 「중앙일보」, 「경향신문」, 「한겨레」이다. 분석 결과 미국의 시각을 다루는 기사가 많았고, 우크라이나 사태, 시리아 내전과 같은 국제적인 파장이 큰 사안이나 올림픽, 월드컵과 같은 국제 행사 소식을 전하는 등 단편적인 정보를 주로 제공하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 매체별 차이는 있었으나 대체로유사한 의제를 구성했고, 「동아일보」와 「중앙일보」에서 북한 관련 주제를 비교적 많이 다루었다. 감성분석 결과 각 매체가 ‘의혹’, ‘비판’과 같은 부정적인 표현을 많이 사용하는 경향을 보였다.
본 연구는 러시아 보도 경향에 관한 담론을 형성하는 데 기여하며, 다양한 질적·양적 분석의 기초자료로 활용될 것으로 기대된다.
This study was designed to analyze the news coverage trends of Korean media on Russia for eight years, from March 2013 to March 2021. News coverage related to Russia were collected using data crawling, a big data analysis method. The collected data were analyzed by topic modeling and sentiment analysis. The target media of analysis are the ‘Dong-A Ilbo,’ ‘Korea JoongAng Daily,’ ‘Kyunghyang Shinmun,’ and ‘Hankyoreh.’ As a result of the analysis, many articles were dealing with the perspective of the United States. It was found that they mainly provided short information such as delivering news of international issues like the Ukrainian crisis and the Syrian civil war, or international events such as the Olympics and the World Cup. In addition, despite differences among each media, they formed a group of generally similar topics, and relatively many issues related to North Korea were reported in the ‘Dong-A Ilbo’ and ‘The JoongAng Ilbo.’ As a result of sentiment analysis, each medium tended to use negative expressions such as ‘doubt’ and ‘criticism.’ This study contributes to the formation of discourse on international coverage trends and is expected to be used as primary data for various qualitative and quantitative analysis.
