| Abstract:
High yield somatic embryogenesis was induced by the culture of flower buds of in vitro multiple shoot complex on MS medium containing 2,4-D under dark for 3 months. The mature embryos, incubated in MS-vermiculite (9:10) medium supplemented with sucrose (3%), BAP-GA (0.5 mg/l each) under 16 hr light regime for one month, resulted in intact plantlets. On the other hand, the mature embryos were incubated in MS liquid medium containing 3% sucrose and GA (0.5 mg/l) to give plantlets whose roots grew rapidly as compared to MS-vermiculite medium and the growth of their shoots was comparatively inhibited. | |
