Dataset: The role of elections as drivers of tropical deforestation

Description

This data set was created to investigate the relationship between national elections and deforestation. The data incorporates the deforestation on national and sub-national level and contains elections at national and sub-national level. Additional governance variables are on a national scale. The data shows that elections are associated with lower deforestation but that competitive ones are associated with higher deforestation.
