Objective

In the framework of the EU Interreg BEACHMED program, the Hérault general (@county) council asked Ifremer to provide a summary of knowledge and make a sea cruise on sand resources off the coasts of the Lion gulf at depths from 40 to 100 meters, with a view to using them as beach-fill to recharge beaches undergoing erosion. Two areas were defined as potentially exploitable worksites (APE), one (APE1) on 40 m deep seabeds and the other (APE2) at depths of 100 m. The prime objective of the survey was to finely map a 50 km² pilot zone in the APE1 area. The survey falls under the Margins program, as well as the sedimentary recordings project.
