Most of the Chinese independence patriots, who were honored for their support of the Korean independence movement, were known as Guomindang affiliates. In the process of numerous Koreans moving to China and supporting the Korean independence movement, the Guomindang had long supported the movement. However, the Chinese who helped the Korean independence movement came from various backgrounds and contexts; personnel and activities outside the Guomindang were relatively unknown. Also, there has been a tendency to regard the support of the Guomindang as support for the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea. In this regard, the current study selected three Chinese independence patriots who have not been acknowledged to date and examined their support activities for the Korean independence movement. Huang Jue (黃覺), who was a member of the Guomindang but worked with socialism-and anarchism-oriented Korean independence activists demonstrated the need to actively evaluate various practices of a person beyond the framework of the Guomindang. The case of Du Junhui (杜君慧) called for the necessity to appreciate an independent activist as a ‘full’ figure, rather than as someone's wife or assistant. Finally, Si Tude (司徒德) and the China-Korea Culture Association suggested that the support of the Guomindang’s independence movement of Korea could be analyzed in a larger framework of modern Korea-China relations. These examples can provide a new view of the Chinese people’s overall support for the Korean independence movement, and further contribute to discovering the existence of unacknowledged Chinese who cooperated with the Korean independence movement.
