This paper is about L1 influence on the Japanese composition written by Koreanlearners. Korean and Japanese language have a lot in common especially in syntaxand Kanji-noun(based on Chinese character). Thus, it appears that Korean learnerstend to depend on ‘word for word translation strategy’ when they speak or writeJapanese. In this paper, I researched writings by intermediate-advanced level learnersto find out their dependency in L1 and subsequent problem. The result suggests two points. First, the problem with Kanji-nouns that have beenthought advantage for Korea learners. Learners applied Korean nouns that consistedof Chinese letters to Japanese writing even though the Chinese letters have differentmeaning or are not used in Japanese. Second, problem with meaning boundary inbasic verbs like miru and suru or adjectives like itai that introduced from theelementary level. Not all these vocabularies share the meaning and usage withKorean. However, Korean learners, even the advanced level, made mistakes byapplying Korean usage, which is accustomed to them.
