The purpose of this study is to examine factors associated with the quality of life (QOL) among injured workers, moving focus from previous studies on vocational rehabilitation to improving the QOL. Using the data from the Workers’ Compensation Insurance Panel of the Korea Workers’ Compensation and Welfare Service Corporation, this study analysed the 2,000 occupationally injured workers who finished medical care. The results showed that: First, the level of QOL among the injured workers was slightly higher than the median score. Second, among the democratic factors, there were significant differences in the level of QOL by age, marital status, education and employment status. Among the industrial accident factors, there were significant differences in the level of QOL by the occupationally injury status and nursing period, degree of rehabilitation needs. And among the workplace factors, there were significant differences in the level of QOL by work period, employment status, monthly income, the number of welfare benefits. Third, the factors affecting the QOL among injured workers were self-esteem, self-efficacy, subjective health status, nonlegal welfare benefits, work period, employment status, marital status, degree of rehabilitation needs, and social support. Based on these results, this study suggests practical implications for improving the QOL among injured workers, discusses the limitations of the study and suggestions for future research.
