In Korean, conjuctive ending is the typical grammar element that connects clauses. However, some periphrastic constructions work as conjunctive endings and reveal same meaning. This study focuses on the features of periphrastic constructions which have a conjunctional function considering the substitution of conjunctive ending. Based on Korean dictionaries and precedent researches, a list of periphrastic constructions with conjunctional function and conjunctive endings is shown and then investigated to verify whether all periphrastic constructions can replace with conjunctive ending or not. According to the investigation result, only some of periphrastic constructions can replace conjunctive endings. Periphrastic constructions which can replace conjunctive endings have distinctive properties as following. First, they appear detailed meanings of time and manner. Second, they restrict relation between antecedent clause and following clause. Third, they increase the independence of antecedent clause as contrasted with conjunctive ending. If periphrastic constructions can't change conjunctive endings, it is due to morphological and semantic reasons, which are including conjunctive ending inside but appearing more expanded meaning than that, expressing nonexistent meaning of conjunctive ending, and representing the specified meaning immediately and directly.
