Relationship between the content of chlorophyll a and the taxonomic composition and biomass of phytoplankton of water bodies of the town of Kiev was investigated. The maximum and minimum content of chlorophyll a coincided with the maximum and minimum biomass of phytoplankton. Most of the studied water bodies in terms of the average per year content of chlorophyll a were eutrophic.
