The purpose of this study was to identify the sequential mediating effect of ego-identity and anxiety between parents’ overprotection and resilience. For this purpose, a survey completed by 968 high school students in 8 schools located in the Seoul, Kyoung-gi and Kyoung-buk areas of Korea was analyzed by SPSS 25.0 and Mplus 6.0. The results are as follows. The influence of parents’ overprotection on children’s resilience was sequentially mediated by ego-identity and anxiety, thereby identifying a series of paths by which parents’ overprotection influences children’s resilience. In addition, it was found that ego-identity and anxiety was a complete mediator between parents’ overprotection and resilience. The current study is unique in that it examined parents’ overprotection and its influence on resilience in terms of children’s ego-identity and anxiety. Effective intervention improving students’ resilience by addressing their ego-identity and anxiety was discussed.
