본고는 슬로터다이크의『인간농장을 위한 규칙』을 중심으로 휴머니즘·포스트휴머니즘과 교육의 관련을 고찰한다. 1999년에 행해졌던 슬로터다이크의 강연은 하이데거의 기초존재론을 포함하여 기존의 모든 휴머니즘들이 이른바 “새로운 미디어”의 등장으로 인하여 종언을 고하게 되었으며, 아울러 교육 역시 동일한 운명에 처하게 되었다는 내용을 담고 있다. 이에서 한 걸음 더 나아가 그는 휴머니즘 이후라는 의미의 포스트휴머니즘을 니체의 예언적 철학과 연결시키면서 인간의 미래적 삶과 교육에 유전학적 개입의 가능성을 시사함으로써 사회적으로 큰 논란의 구실을 제공하기도 하였다. 본고에서는 전통적 휴머니즘부터 하이데거의 기초존재론, 그리고 슬로터다이크의 휴머니즘 비판 및 포스트휴머니즘 제안으로 이어지는 슬로터다이크의 강연의 내용을 단계적으로 짚어보고, 이것이 현재와 미래의 교육에 어떤 의미를 갖는지에 대해 고찰하되, 근래 포스트휴머니스트들을 통해 제안되고 있는 인간향상론의 주요 동기도 비판적 관점에서 간략히 소개하고 있다.

This study investigates the relevance between humanism/posthumanism and education sketched in Rules for the Human Zoo by Sloterdijk. In his speech delivered in Castle Elmau in Germany in 1999, he declares the end of all traditional humanisms including the fundamental ontology of Heidegger with the appearance of the so called new techniques. And as its consequence, education should confront an end, so Sloterdijk, as humanism and education as taming are closely connected with each other. In addition, he insinuated the possiblity of genetic intervention in human life and education by linking Nietzsche’s prophetic philosophy to his suggestion of posthumanism, also understood as “beyond” of humanism, which, therefore, provided pretext for a great social controversy. This study retraces stage by stage Letter on Humanism of Sloterdijk from traditional humanisms and Heidegger’s fundamental ontology to his criticisms of humanism as well as his suggestion for modern and future society and education. In addition the main motive of human enhancement theory proposed by posthumanists will be examined on the edge of this study.
