The purpose of this study is to show the pre-service and current English teachers' perspectives on the item validity on English linguistics in the Secondary School Selection Test(SSST) and to sketch the desirable direction for the new version of SSST. This study conducted the analyses of linguistically related items administered from 2009 to 2013, analyzed the survey data acquired from 24 English teachers and 140 examinees, and included the interviews with three professionals in English linguistics and one English teacher. The research finding indicates that contents related to teaching of English grammar and syntax have been intensively measured in the linguistic area and that the future test needs to include more comprehensive semi-areas in the domain of linguistics and showed that the feedback from a variety of group who might be influenced by SSST might be a valuable resource for enhanced validity of SSST.
