목적: 원활한 의사소통을 위해서는 기본적으로 언어능력을 구성하는 구문, 의미, 음운, 화용 능력 등이 뒷받침되어야 한다. 이 중에서 구문능력은 문장 구조를 분석하여 문장 내에서 어휘가 담당하는 역할을 파악하고, 청자에게 화자가 전달하고자 하는 메시지의 형식을 갖추는데 필수적인 역할을 한다. 문법 지식은 구문능력이 바탕이 되므로 본 연구에서는 노년층을 대상으로 문법지식을 활용하여 구문을 판단하는 능력을 확인하고자 하였다. 방법: 노화에 따른 구문능력의 변화를 확인하기 위하여 정상 노인 40명과 청년 40명을 대상으로 제시되는 문장을 읽고 그 문장이 문법적으로 옳은지를 판단하는 문법판단과제와 오류가 있는 경우 직접 수정해보도록 하는 오류수정과제를 실시하여, 집단 간 정반응점수, 반응시간과 수정유형, 문법형태소 오류의 차이를비교 분석하였다. 결과: 첫째, 문법판단과제에서 노년층이 청년층에 비해 유의하게 낮은 정반응 점수와 지연된 반응속도를 보였다. 둘째, 틀린 곳을 스스로 찾아 수정하는 과제에서도 노년층은 유의하게 낮은 정반응 점수를 보였으며, 문법적인 수정과 더불어 의미적으로 수정을 하는 양상을 보였다. 또한 문장에서 틀리지 않은곳을 수정하는 양상도 빈번히 관찰되었다. 결론: 이러한 결과는 노화에 따른 전두엽 기능 감퇴에 기인한 것일수 있다. 전두엽 기능은 상위언어처리능력에 영향을 줄 수 있으므로 이러한 변화로 인하여 노년층이 청년층에비하여 문법판단능력과 구문의 오류수정능력이 저하될 수 있음을 보여준다. 또한 노년층이 구문적 처리를 할때 내용이나 사실적 가치 여부에 기초하여 의미적으로 판단하는 양상을 보일 수 있음을 확인하였다.
Purpose: For good communication, one's linguistic abilities should be supported by syntactic, semantic, phonological and pragmatic skills. Among these, syntactic ability is essential because it both helps to understand which part each word belongs to in a sentence and because it builds the form of a message. Thus, it is necessary to investigate grammaticality judgment ability using knowledge of grammar to check the syntactic ability of the elderly. Methods: The subjects of this study were 40 young people and 40 older people. This study investigated whether there were any differences in their ability in a grammaticality judgment task, an error correction task, the correct response score, error correction type, and error of sub-types of grammatical morphemes. Results: First, in the grammaticality judgment task, the elderly showed significantly lower correct response scores and more delayed response rates than the young. Second, in the task of finding and revising a mistake themselves, the elderly earned significantly lower correct response scores, and as for the error correction type, the elderly had significantly more errors in grammatical and semantic revision. The elderly frequently revised even correct sentences. Conclusions: Due to the change of meta-linguistic processing ability, including deterioration in the frontal lobes, the elderly showed both grammatically judgment and error correction ability lower than the young. In addition, when they process syntax, we saw that they judge semantically based on whether there is content value.
